Club Deportivo Leganés has lost one of its most valuable players, defender Jorge Sáenz, who has joined Sporting de Gijón in a transfer move that leaves the Madrid team without a key player for promotion to La Liga. Sáenz, who has signed a contract with Sporting until 2028, developed his formation in the youth categories of CD Tenerife and consolidated himself in the first team for four seasons. His performance caught the attention of Valencia CF, who signed him in 2019, and later played for Real Club Celta de Vigo, CS Marítimo in Portugal, CD Mirandés and CD Leganés. In the 2023/24 season, he returned to CD Leganés as a fully-owned player and became a key piece for achieving promotion to the top category. With the Madrid team, the defender surpassed the century of games and accumulated 23 matches of experience in La Liga.
